Biography

Rafael Avila has studied composition at Moreno Valley College and at the University of California, Riverside. Studying with professors, Dr. Dana Kaufman, Dr. Ian Dicke, and Dr. Paulo Chagas. He seeks to develop his compositional voice through graduate studies, as well as become a professor. His compositions are influenced by Schoenberg’s 12 tone method, and the electronic music of groups like Nurse with Wound, and Coil. Composing serves as an outlet for his personal frustrations he feels being visually impaired, and by the current state of our world, however strives to embed a hopeful messag
