Terms of use
1. The site’s role
The Agora of New Music is a free platform that introduces composers and performers. The site is not a party to any agreement between users and accepts no responsibility for fees, copyright, delivery or performance.
2. Payments
The site holds no money, acts as no intermediary and takes no commission. Payment and terms are entirely between users.
Optional contributions to support the site are made on an external page; they are entirely voluntary, give no advantage on the site, and the site itself never handles payments.
3. Copyright and files
All rights in uploaded works remain with the composer. The full score is used only to assess difficulty and is never published. Once the assessment is complete, it is automatically deleted from our system. Only the first 30% of the work and the performance notes remain on the site as a preview for performers.
The preview pages are chosen automatically: the performance notes and technical explanations at the start are shown in full and do not count; then come the first 30% of the music pages. Works are rated within 7 days. If a work is still not rated 14 days after upload, its full score is deleted in the same way, and the work stays on the site with its preview, marked “Not yet rated”. In both cases the composer receives an automatic email. There is no option to keep the full score. When a work is deleted, its files are deleted too.
Beside their rated works, composers may add any number of works that are not rated, with one link and no files; performers may add repertoire and recording links to their profiles. Members may also add one link to their full portfolio. These links are public, and the member who adds a link is alone responsible for what it contains and for the rights to it — including any full scores that can be reached through it.
4. Our editors
“Rated” means that only the work’s technical difficulty and complexity for the performer have been assessed, on a scale of 1 to 7. No aesthetic judgement is made. Our editors rate the difficulty of works on a scale of seven, approve open commissions and system suggestions and review accounts. They decline a match only when it is clearly a poor fit.
5. Suspension
Accounts that repeatedly break the rules or appear suspicious may be suspended.
